Privacy policy

Who we are

The International Journal of Music Therapy (IJMT) is published by the Indian Association of Music Therapy (IAMT). IAMT is responsible for personal data handled through this portal. Contact the editorial office about anything on this page.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), title, designation, department, institution, city, country and ORCID iD.
  • Submission records: manuscripts, files, author lists and their contact details, declarations, messages with the editorial office, reviewer reports and editorial decisions.
  • Usage records: the date you last signed in and a log of actions taken in the editorial system, kept for accountability.
  • New-issue alerts: the email address you subscribe with.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The portal uses essential cookies only, to keep you signed in.

Why we use it

We use this information to run peer review and publish the journal: to identify you, process your submission, contact you and your co-authors about it, keep an accurate editorial record, and send alerts you asked for.

Who can see it

  • Editors handling your manuscript, and the editor-in-chief.
  • Peer reviewers see an anonymised manuscript; they do not see author names or contact details.
  • When an article is published, the title, abstract, author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs and the corresponding author's email become public.
  • Service providers who host the portal for us (Supabase for the database, authentication and file storage; Vercel for the website; our email delivery provider). They process data only on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Published articles and their editorial records are kept permanently as part of the scholarly record. Records of manuscripts that were not published are kept for [IAMT to confirm] years after the final decision. You can ask us to close your account at any time; editorial records that are needed to keep the journal's record accurate are retained.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile at any time, turn new-issue alerts off from your profile or from any alert email, and ask the editorial office for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion where it is not needed for the editorial record. These rights apply under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.

Changes

When this policy changes we will publish the new version here with its date.
